Partnerships like this are the engine that will get us there.
Every child deserves access to quality healthcare, no matter where they live. That belief is at the heart of a new Memorandum of Understanding we've signed with Gertrude's Children's Hospital, aimed at strengthening access to specialized paediatric care for vulnerable children across the country.
By combining our reach across 32 counties and Gertrude's deep paediatric expertise, this partnership will focus on 4 key areas:
Life-saving surgeries. We'll work together to facilitate critical procedures including ENT, urology, and cleft lip/palate surgeries for children in underserved communities who might otherwise go without care.
Telemedicine access. Specialist consultations will be brought directly to families in hard-to-reach regions like Samburu, Turkana, and Lamu, closing the distance between children and the doctors they need.
Dedicated hearing programs. In Mathare and Makueni, we'll co-implement programs focused on identifying and treating hearing loss in children early, when intervention matters most.
Stronger health systems. Beyond direct care, the partnership includes donating medical equipment and training local healthcare workers, investments designed to build lasting capacity long after any single program ends.
This collaboration is part of a bigger vision. Our 2026–2030 strategy sets an ambitious goal: reaching 13.3 million children with the healthcare they need. Partnerships like this one with Gertrude's aren't just complementary; they're the engine that will help us get there.
Because when we combine reach with expertise, we don't just treat more children. We change more futures.
